Transfers

Beach volleyball has one of the highest percentages of transfer athletes in NCAA women’s sports. This is primarily due to the number of graduate transfers moving from indoor volleyball to the beach game for their “fifth year” of eligibility.  As more beach programs look to improve blocking and add height to their rosters there is more opportunity than ever for graduate transfers to play collegiate beach volleyball.  The opportunity to compete may also come with funding as many schools now are budgeting their scholarships specifically to recruit graduate transfers.

Changes to the transfer rules have provided student-athletes with more control over their ability to transfer than ever before.  Among all NCAA sports, beach volleyball has the second highest percentage of its athletes seeking to transfer.  While initiating the transfer process is fairly straight forward the implications for doing so are less well known.  There are also new timing requirements on entering the transfer portal that affect student-athletes' ability to communicate with other potential schools.  While we never encourage student-athletes to transfer, we do advise families who contact us on the undergraduate transfer process and guide them through the advisability of transferring.  Whether families are just looking for a better fit or are considering their options in response to a coaching change, we have successfully advised numerous clients though the process and are available to assist you.
